With “Hannah Montana” coming to an end, Disney Channel is in desperate need to launch a new talent like Miley Cyrus who propelled the network to success. The Mouse House, as reported by Deadline, is investing high on 13-year-old Bella Thorne who is given her own Disney Channel Original Series called “Shake It Up“.
The show debuted the pilot on Sunday, November 7. It follows Thorne’s Ce Ce Jones and her best friend Zendaya Coleman’s Rocky as they audition for “Shake It Up Chicago”, the nation’s hottest dance show. It recalls a lot of Miley’s first years on “Hannah Montana” when she lived up her dream of singing and Demi Lovato on “Sonny with a Chance” where she became an aspiring actress.
Nevertheless, at such a young age, Thorne has already starred in a number of acclaimed TV series such as “Dirty Sexy Money“, “My Own Worst Enemy” and the Emmy-winning show “Big Love“. She has also popped up on Selena Gomez‘s “Wizards of Waverly Place” before becoming the new Disney darling.
Disney Channel has in fact tried the same approach with now 17-year-old Bridgit Mendler in 2009. She was touted to be the next Miley Cyrus through “Good Luck Charlie” although the show never eventually matched “Hannah Montana” in terms of popularity. Adam Bonnett, senior VP of original programming at Disney Channel said about Mendler back then, “We just fell in love with her. She has all the attributes of a Disney star.”
Miley Cyrus is keeping mum on her parents Billy Ray’s and Tish’s divorce proceedings, as her Disney Channel show Hannah Montana, which launched her career, nears its end after four seasons.
Meanwhile, talk show hosts Jay Leno and Phil McGraw are set to appear on an upcoming Hannah Montana episode on November 7. Warning: Spoilers ahead!
Leno and McGraw will play themselves on the episode, titled “I’ll Always Remember You”. Hannah Montana contemplates removing her blonde wig and revealing she’s really Miley Stewart on The Tonight Show, which Leno hosts, after her boyfriend Jesse begins to grow tired of pretending to date her alter-ego, international pop star Hannah Montana.
The Disney Channel has not confirmed the date of the Hannah Montana series finale but a spokesperson said it would air in 2011.
Billy Ray Cyrus, who plays the actress’ and singer’s father on Hannah Montana, was the one who filed the divorce papers earlier this week, citing irreconcilable differences.”
Miley Cyrus told TV Guide magazine in a video interview shot prior to the filing: “Our relationship has changed like every dad and daughter but we haven’t separated. We haven’t distanced outselves. We have even gotten closer. I don’t have anything to hide, I’m with him every day and he trusts me more than I think most dads trust their daughters.”
Miley Cyrus, who turns 18 on November 23, has said she has outgrown Hannah Montana and also caused some controversy earlier this year when she showcased a more mature image in performances and music videos, which marked a sharp contrast to her “good-girl” persona seen on the show. The actress and singer acknowledges she has changed since she began filming Hannah Montana.
“I’ve definitely changed a lot,” Miley Cyrus said. “Who you are and what you know and what you understand and what you feel is completely different.”
“I have one Hannah Montana outfit that I’ve kept,” she added. “If I ever have a girl one day I want her to be able to dress up as Hannah Montana one day and know what it feels like. I think I’ll probably end up saving one of the wigs.”
Cyrus, who began her acting career when she was eight, is focusing her attention on the big screen. She stars in the 2011 film LOL: Laughing Out Loud with Demi Moore and plays a girl who deals with high school romances and friendships as well as overbearing parents. Lionsgate recently acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the film.
Since ’Hannah Montana Forever’ is Miley Cyrus’s fourth and final season with the show that made her famous, Funny Or Die is proposing a new show to fill the Disney Channel’s void.
‘Hannah Mantegna’ runs on the same basic premise as the original except for one large detail. Instead of changing into a pop superstar, this everyday girl turns into critically-acclaimed actor Joe Mantegna. The hilarious spoof finally answers the question, “What if a this ’Criminal Minds‘ tough-guy were actually a tween girl?”
This is Mantegna’s first appearance on the popular website, known for featuring numerous film and TV stars in their comedy videos. While fans of the actor’s dramatic work may be surprised to see him play a silly role, Mantegna is no stranger to comedies. He appeared in the movies ‘Three Amigos,’ ‘Airheads’ and does the voice for Fat Tony in ’The Simpsons.’

Billy Ray Cyrus is returning to the small screen with another one of his offspring – he’s teaming up with son Trace Cyrus for a reality show about conspiracy theories involving paranormal phenomena. The “Achy Breaky Heart” hitmaker co-starred on Disney’s “Hannah Montana” alongside his daughter, Miley Cyrus, from 2006 until the series finale earlier this year.
And now he’s signed a deal with America’s Syfy network to star on “UFO: Unbelievably Freakin’ Obvious”, which will see the singer and 21-year-old Trace traveling cross-country to investigate unexplained activity. The Cyrus patriarch tells Variety, “The existence of paranormal phenomena is something I’ve always wanted to explore further.”
“Getting the opportunity to take this adventure with my son, who has always had a keen interest in this area, is a dream come true. I hope this series can shine a light on some of the activities we have questioned, and the mysteries that have long inspired us.”
Production on the series pilot is scheduled to begin this autumn.
Hannah Montana Que Sera Music Video – The music video for Hannah Montana’s “Que Sera” has been unveiled. The music video will be a part of the season four of the popular television series. The video depicts Miley Cyrus as Hannah Montana hanging out with a female friend in the recording studio. She is recording a song for her new album while her friend sits behind the mixing table. The clip will be very different from the videos that Cyrus has released in recent months for her own recording career, and will cater toward the younger audience that watches “Hannah Montana.”
Cyrus plays a recording artist in the popular television show, just like she does off-screen. The song was released on Friday, along with a clip from Selena Gomez’s debut album “A Year without Rain.” Both young stars got their start on the Disney Channel and are trying to take their careers to the next level. The song will be featured on an episode that will reportedly be titled “Been Here All Along,” which aired on August 22nd.
It will be interesting to see how Disney decides to market the final season of “Hannah Montana” which has been a breakaway success for the show. The network has announced that they will be releasing a number of soundtracks, but that they will not be available for purchase until October 19th.
If you happen to be a teenager or a tween or someone who is an adult yet has devoured the chirpy episodes of Hannah Montana with equal delight, then you must accept that the quirky, tickling half-an-hour show has had a great impact, not only in Miley’s life but also in our private lives. Sunk in our mundane chores, the frolic-injecting rib-tickler breezed through our minds like a breath of fresh air.

Disney Channel has let fans to have a peek at the official opening theme of “Hannah Montana” season 4 which has been dubbed “Hannah Montana Forever”. The last season of the popular TV series will debut on Sunday, July 11 and it still uses “Best of Both World” as the theme song although “Ordinary Girl” has been used in the promos.
The first return episode is called “Sweet Home Hannah Montana“. The Stewarts move onto their new ranch home, but Miley and Lilly are aghast that Robby Ray has moved Miley’s old bedroom furniture, complete with white bunk beds, pink walls, pink bedding, dolls, a stuffed unicorn and Rainbow Piggy, into their new home, so they set out to make some changes. Meanwhile, Jackson must befriend an obnoxious new kid, T.J., in order to get close to his beautiful cousin Siena who lives next door.
“Hannah Montana” comes to an end after Miley Cyrus decided that it was her time to move on from the kids show. Disney Channel Worldwide programming exec Adam Bonnett previously said that the show will sign off with another big decision. “It’s one of the things she’s been wrestling with for months – whether it’s time to make a decision to continue being Hannah Montana or just be a regular, ordinary girl,” Bonnett said.
A music video supporting one of the soundtracks for Miley Cyrus’ “Hannah Montana” season 4 has been out for viewing pleasure. Instead of seeing footage from the TV series, this clip follows a young ordinary girl who dreams to be a superstar.
Although Miley is not highlighted, she isn’t entirely shunned in this clip. In some points, she is seen performing the song in her Hannah Montana alter ego. “Sometimes I’m lazy, I get bored, I get scared / I feel ignored, I feel happy, I get silly / I choked on my own words, I make wishes,” she sings.
Beside “Ordinary Girl”, Miley Cyrus will also sing a song called “Still There for Me” in a special episode which is dedicated to U.S. troops and their families. In front of many children whose parents deployed abroad, she will sing the track in an intimate acoustic set with Billy Ray Cyrus playing guitar.
