After getting a role alongside Jackie Chan and Hannah Montana: The Movie co-star Lucas Till on the new movie The Spy Next Door, Billy Ray Cyrus has received yet another acting gig. It’s not a sequel to his daughter’s hit movie though, but it’s also a rather family-oriented flick that’s lined up for his career.
According to All Headline News, the 48-year-old country music songwriter and actor will be playing the lead role of Daniel Burton in a Hallmark movie titled Christmas in Canaan. While it doesn’t look like it will be have any other Hannah Montana
attachments there, he’ll still be portraying the role of a father. This time, however, to an unruly boy.
Billy Ray’s character Daniel Burton is dad to one of two boys caught in a fight. But due to unlikely circumstances, they are brought together in Canaan, Texas in the 60s. It sounds like your usual Hallmark fare, and it was enough to make the Hannah Montana star cry.
Initially turning down the role, Billy Ray Cyrus explained that he called Hallmark again and reconsidered because he remembered his own father. Growing up, he was told to emulate Kenny Rogers and branch out into acting.
He also said that his role on Christmas in Canaan definitely reminded him of his dad, who died in 2006. Accepting the part is Billy Ray’s way of paying tribute.
“I feel like this character I’m playing, Daniel, was my dad,” the Hannah Montana actor said. “Really and truly. It’s like I’m able to honor him on this role. And that’s a bigger thrill than I can say. I also get to sing the theme song for it. And it was just an amazing shoot, giving me a really challenging role to sink my teeth into and more depth than I was used to as an actor.”
Since he’s so used to being a dad, it’s only fitting that Billy Ray Cyrus take on yet another similar part. Then again, he’ll be breaking out of that stereotype once The Spy Next Door airs. But at the moment, let’s catch him on the Hallmark Original Movie titled Christmas in Canaan as it airs this December 12.

We reported weeks ago that the 16-year-old Hannah Montana star is in talks to appear on the sequel to the Sex and the City movie, but not a lot of you commented on that possibility. Let me just say, how very Miley of you all.
It was doubtful that the rumor is indeed true, despite Miley Cyrus admitting to being a fan of the HBO series. Lately she’s kept mum about the whole deal, particularly when she zipped her lips when MTV News caught up with her during her tour.
Sources close to the production have revealed that the Disney princess might just hit New York to film her cameo for the film, which is currently in production. When asked about her Sex and the City involvement, Miley asked her publicist: “Can we talk about that?”
When there was no go-signal, the Hannah Montana star merely said, “Ah, zipped tight.”
But this week, Gossipcop had some words that the musician might consider using. An exclusive report confirms the news that she will indeed have a role on the Sex and the City sequel, playing herself.
The current script for the film states that Miley will be in a scene with Kim Catrall’s character. The two of them find that they’re wearing the same dress to a red carpet event, since Samantha Jones bought an outfit to look “hot and young.”
The outspoken Anthony (Mario Cantone) spots the two and exclaims “Mother of God: She is wearing the same dress as Hannah Montana.” Despite that, Miley Cyrus doesn’t have any lines so far.
The report goes on to say that all of this is still in the planning phase as of now, but Miley’s people are doing their best to make it happen . Even though she’s currently on tour, she might just make a stop at New York to film the Sex and the City sequel.
With her acting career now grounded on the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana, Emily Osment then embarked on her music. Even though it looks like she’s going pretty far with her singing and style, she can’t help but feel the need for more appearances on the show that catapulted her to fame.
Having recently debuted her first music video, “All the Way Up,” Emily Osment is likely headed for a rockstar life. She worked on the video with the band Push Play and it was such a success that she can’t wait for more.
“The video was so fun, Push Play plays my band. We’re buddies,” she said in an interview as noted by Ace Showbiz. “It was really fun; we shot it in a mock apartment where you could see what’s going on in every room. I’m playing music upstairs and you can see how it’s affecting all the rooms below.”
You can catch a glimpse of her music video, “All the Way Up,” if you scroll downwards. The song already premiered on Radio Disney earlier this month, and will appear on Emily Osment’s forthcoming album. It doesn’t have a title as of now, but fans will be lining up for it when it’s launched on March 2010.
So there’s the music video, but Emily’s still makes a better Lily Truscott and she’s not giving that up. The actress admitted to The Celebrity Café how much she enjoys filming Hannah Montana, and that she hopes it will continue for the fans’ sake.
The 17-year-old Osment exclaimed that she wanted to do a fifth season of the show, despite the news that the fourth will be the end for the Disney Channel series.
“I don’t think anyone wants to see Hannah Montana ever end, so I think we need to do that,” she said. “We need to do something like ‘Hannah Montana Goes to London’ or ‘Hannah Montana on Ice!’”
While we can imagine the cast of Hannah Montana
decked in tights and skates on a rink, we don’t think that’d be possible. It’d be a riot to watch their antics on ice though.
There are some things they don’t show you on television, and it’s probably for your own good. Then again, what we don’t see on the tube finds their way to the Internet anyway. Such is the case with Miley Cyrus‘ latest stunt on this year’s Teen Choice Awards. She may have won six surf boards, but there’s one other thing she’ll be remembered for: a pole dance.
FOX cut away that part of her performance for the hit single “Party in the USA” and even Disney is trying to distance itself from the Hannah Montana star’s move. According to reports, Miley Cyrus did a very blatant stripper move on top of an ice-cream cart. If you don’t believe me, you can watch the video after the jump.
The 16-year-old once again caused a buzz among online forums and message boards, according to the Los Angeles Times. That move of hers was called “shocking” and “trashy” by most, but several fans have already called her the next Britney Spears.

sensation proclaimed that the pop star was her hero. “For all the people calling me the “next Britney” THANK U. I couldn’t ask for a better compliment 
” she wrote on her Twitter page.
As for her little rendezvous with the stripper pole, the source reports that Cyrus herself referred to it as an homage to her small-town, trailer-park roots. She’s once again succeeded in confusing her fans, in addition to raising the eyebrows of numerous mothers.

Watching that (and not believing how I survived it), I could say she just needed something to hold on to as the ice cream cart was pushed around the stage. But considering she’s 16 with a history of controversy – from questionable photos to the ups-and-downs of her relationships, this little dance of hers certainly remains problematic.

Once again quick to dodge false reports, Miley Cyrus took to her Twitter account to discuss matters regarding her relationship with Nick Jonas. The 16-year-old star of Hannah Montana
was recently plagued by reports that she received a commitment ring from her fellow Disney star. However, she eventually cleared things up and revealed the truth.
“Sooo I woke up this morning and thought I’d check up on the daily gossip and apparently Nick Jonas gave me a $75,000 ring? Its all true. Ha!.”
Miley followed it up with another tweet, saying: “P.S. My last tweet was very sarcastic. Don’t believe anything until I tweet it (Unless its good news of course hehe)”
Confusing her fans about the Niley romance, the actress then sent a post addressed to Twitter-friend Nicole Richie, with Miley Cyrus saying: “girl I don’t care who the heck its from! Ill take a 75,000 dollar ring from ANYBODY ”
According to Ace Showbiz, the rumors began last Wednesday, when several sources claimed that her (boy)friend Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers presented her with a ring to signify their ties with one another. In Touch Weekly was supposedly the first to report on the matter.
It was said that a friend close to the Cyrus family divulged information to the publication. The source explained, “It’s sweet and appropriate for her age. Of course, Miley thought it was perfect and beautiful. They are a very happy couple these days. They are too young to marry, certainly, but who knows what the future will bring?”
The inexistent ring was supposedly gold, with a diamond heart as its design. This news can’t beat Kevin Jonas’ engagement to his girlfriend Danielle Deleasa though, since Miley has already rejected the assumptions about her and Nick.
As for the youngest JoBro, he has remained silent over the issues. None of his siblings have commented about the situation, which doesn’t surprise us at all. But really, it’s his turn to speak up.
At the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, Miley Cyrus talked about her “The Last Song” co-star Liam Hemsworth. She said, “I got a hot boy. I can’t say that too many times, but he is attractive. Not bad to look at for the summer.”
Is there any romance in the movie? Possibly some smooching?
“Maybe,” Miley said with a smile. “I don’t know.”
Melissa George, who stars opposite Liam in the upcoming thriller The Triangle had this to say about the young star.
“Honestly, he is a superstar in the making”. Does she think Justin Gaston (Miley’s man) should be worried?
“Yes, [Justin] should be worried,” George said. “I certainly think he has some competition.”
She went on to say, “Not only is Liam wonderful to look at—he’s a gorgeous guy—but his spirit and his soul are just incredible. I’ve never worked with a nicer guy in my life. And I’m not just saying that. He is the most amazing person.”
Hmmm, looks like Miley Cyrus will have a fun summer.

Mitchel was asked if her got to write any of his songs on the upcoming album.
He said, “Yeah, I got to write and co-write alot of stuff and I’ve also got my older brother on the album, which is very cool. So, I’ve got a little family going in on it.”
